About Us
Dispute Resolution Resources was established by Stanley P. Witkow to bring to individuals and small businesses the same type of problem analysis, attorney selection and case management that in-house lawyers provide for their corporate clients. Mr. Witkow, with more than 20 years of experience as a general counsel to some of the country's most visible corporations, has made a career of helping corporate executives make effective and economical use of the legal system. In all of his assignments he has reduced legal expenses while achieving outstanding results.
Mr. Witkow has approached the dispute process from the point of view that each side of a dispute has key needs that must be achieved--and what he has discovered is that often, the goals of opponents are not incompatible, which means that both side can win. Using this as a starting point, he helps clients focus on their key needs and also try to anticipate the needs of their opposition, so that a strategy can be developed to allow both sides to achieve their objectives.
A graduate of the University of California's Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, Mr. Witkow has been practicing law for more than 30 years. He did his undergraduate work at UCLA. In his early years in private practice, Mr. Witkow gained expertise in labor and employment law as well as transactional work. In1985 he was named general counsel of Ashton-Tate Corporation, one of the early pioneers in computer software. From Ashton-Tate, Mr. Witkow was general counsel to a succession of technology companies and in 1997 he was named general counsel of GE Capital's Information Technology Solutions business, a $9 billion world-wide enterprise. In 2000, he joined Vytek Wireless, Inc., a wireless computing company, as a founder and its general counsel. More recently, he has been counseling litigants and helping them resolve their legal issues through analysis of their claims, locating appropriate legal and other professional counsel and finding the best forum for them to achieve resolution
